Thesis “Dear New Yorker”
This thesis explores the intersection between the comfort of home and the structure of city life through a womenswear collection rooted in soft tailoring and minimalist design. Drawing from the duality of living in New York City while having roots in the slower rhythm of Miami, the collection reflects a life lived between contrasts: urban intensity and domestic ease, formality and softness, interior and exterior worlds.
Stripes run throughout the collection, acting as a conceptual and visual anchor. They reference both the dynamic lines found in Venezuelan kinetic art and the soft shadows cast by blinds across interior spaces suggesting the in-between moments of daydreaming, introspection, and quiet glamour. These motifs help ground the collection in memory, culture, and a sense of place.
It speaks to the evolving relationship between self-expression and function, between emotion and architecture. Each garment offers more than just aesthetics; it holds space for the complexities of modern femininity, proposing timeless pieces designed to move with, support, and reflect the woman who wears them.
